The Story of Marvin
CREATIVE DIRECTOR / SENIOR ART DIRECTOR
Getting into advertising was not part of the plan nor would be using my father’s surname later on in my life. If my parents could have had it their way, I would have made them proud by following their dreams - for my mom, being an accountant. For my father, his dream would have been for me to surpass his achievements making his family’s surname proud, maybe a NASA engineer or pilot, but definitely not drawing cartoons as they called it.
So I guess now you think it’s the story of Marvin Mugabe...Zwambila...”What is his surname?” you may ask, the awards say Zwambila but his C.V. says Mugabe. The reality is my surname is Mugabe, it is my father’s surname and he finally what it is that had to be done for me to use my rightful surname.
Well...here I am in advertising some twenty plus years later still making my parents proud.
Moving swiftly along. Whilst the story of my life is being written, the passion I have has taught me never to stop learning. To never stop exploring and to aim for great and beyond, as a human who is an Art Director and loves the way design evokes response.
My story continues...
